Emperor's Reckoning

Chapter 880

“What? I think that it’s sweet when he did that,” Kesya chipped in, “Also, he often did it in the past, so you better be prepared, he might yell out your name in the near future.” Kesya chuckled.

“That’s not the point,” Lumina leered at her. “He is not in a situation to be stupid, remember the being that you sniffed out, the Seraphim Cultivator?”

“Oh, right,” Kesya raised her brows before nodding repeatedly. “That’s true, I almost forgot about that.”

“It’s a double-edged sword strategy,” Cecile smirked.

Farash shifted her attention before looking at the auburn-haired woman. The latter was the class of her own, seeming to have taken a spot where she could utter a word that Lyon would obey no matter what. She was the figure that Farash needed to be.

“Double-edged sword?” Luna raised one of her brows. “What do you mean?”

“Selena must have heard his call if we can hear it from all the way here, after all, he won’t call out her name if he was not at the ruined city,” Cecile smiled as she passed Lumina and led the group with her action. “She should have heard him, that way, she can fend off that Seraphim Cultivator with ease.”

“But the whole reason that she was in hiding was no getting caught by that thing,” said Zelena with a frown.

“Perhaps so, but how long should she lay under the shadows? It will only take a moment for someone as capable as her to shine. You’re her sister, even better, her twin, you should know very well how vastly powerful she is compared to her peers, including yourself,” Cecile answered.

Farash looked at Zelena sparing a glare toward Cecile’s figure but the latter didn’t bother turning around. ( It’s amazing how she put the Fang of Leviathan in her place just by wording alone. Looks like it would be troublesome to gain Lyon’s favoritism. She is indeed a capable woman ) thought Farash before she smirked. ( However, I won’t give up, she might be all that and brave, but I can play more than just one role. Why not become the one that needs protection? Men love a weak woman that begged them for protection or some sort, though, you do need to be beautifully attractive to them as a prerequisite, which I have attained ).

“That’s not answering my question,” said Zelena.

“Hahaha, you have that resemblance with your sister,” Cecile laughed as she kept walking in the direction where Lyon had gone.

Zelena furrowed her brows before saying, “Is she always like this?”

“Yup,” Kesya answered dutifully. “She kept her own answer to her own mind and imagination. Usually, because we are unable to see her vision, we can only do what master used to do.”

“What’s that?”

“Trust her, believe in her,” Kesya smiled and ignored Zelena’s obvious twitching eyebrow.

Lyon furrowed his brows, “How peculiar, hmmmm…”

He stood in front of the ruined city with his hand rubbing his chin. He called her out but he received no response, not even the change of the wind. He looked around before shrugging, “Might as well go inside.”

“You seem to have picked your resting place well, Mortal Dweller!” a highly obnoxious voice made Lyon sigh.

“Goddamnit, what do you want now?” Lyon didn’t even turn around to know who it was.

“You and I have certain… matter to solve,” the Seraphim Cultivator gritted his teeth. He still couldn’t believe that he was tricked by a mere cultivator that had not yet even stepped foot inside Paradise. The aloof aura that Lyon gave off only further enhances the hatred inside him.

“Matter to solve?” Lyon finally turned. “You mean you have a certain mystery to solve? Look, I don’t have much time to give to someone like you, I’m an important person you see and I’m here in an important matter.”

“I guess you can consider yourself lucky.”

“Oh?” Lyon raised one of his brows before crossing his arms. “You have a suggestion or something?”

“The bright side is that you won’t get to do any more matter because you don’t matter! This world won’t be meddled with by the likes of you! Hahaha! For you, won’t see the light of the next day!”

“That’s a lot of running around with your words just for stating that you want to kill me,” Lyon smirked. “Are you going to keep yapping like a dog? Or are you going to keep hovering there like a tool with wings?”

“Tch! You sharp-tongued wrench!” the Seraphim Cultivator frowned before diving down from the sky with a sword in hand.

“Heh,” Lyon staffed to the right before dodging the attack. He looked down on the Seraphim before the latter’s sword even touch the ground.

“Gah!” The Seraphim Cultivator spun in mid-air.

“What?!” Lyon had his eyes wide open before he closed half of them as he placed his arms in front of his face in a cross form. The blade creased and opened a deep wound in one single stroke across his stomach to his forearm. His blood splurted in the air.

“Tch!” Lyon gritted his teeth before leaping back to make a distance between them.

Lyon looked down to see his outfit was cut open so easily despite the past fighting experience that he had with it. He saw his own blood dying the fabric to an even deeper color before he shifted his attention back to the Seraphim.

“Heh, hahaha, what’s wrong? What’s with that look on your face? You seem to have something of a red liquid trailing out of your forearm, hahaha! Oh wait, that’s your blood!” The Seraphim Cultivator laughed out loud. He was taking a deep breath as his eyes lay on the clouds, basking in the glory of covering his prior humiliation.

He looked back at Lyon, “You should be grateful, you don’t know how lucky you are.”

“Heh, what’s with the sudden change of heart?” Lyon smirked as he covered th wound in his stomach with his hand. ( Damn it! This one is quicker than I thought. Looks like I can’t count on my pure reaction time, he is in a different realm than mine ).

“You know, I was trying to be benevolent, like the being that I am who belonged in Paradise— the place that you will never reach— however, to think that you would pull up such a nasty trick to being higher than you, that’s highly and extremely unacceptable, a death offense! A slow one,” the Seraphim smiled deviously. He stepped forward, “I will have you spill every bean, every NAME that knows the reason behind their destruction, behind why The Swarm even existed!”

“Oh?” Lyon raised his brows before he laughed, “Hahahaham, Ah! Ah! That hurt!” Lyon took a deep breath from his nose as he covered his wound.

“What’s so funny?” The Seraphim Cultivator asked.

“Well, I never thought that you would be the reason that The Swarm existed,” Lyon raised his brows, “I didn’t know that, but now you have told me, you, a Seraphim, a being that lived in high heaven, the very Paradise himself. You are actually the one spilling the beans here, not me.”

“W-What?!” The Seraphim Cultivator raised his brows and was taken back. His pupils shrunk before they trembled. His hands tremored before the one that was not holding a sword, buried his fingers inside his palm. “Y-You!”

“What’s wrong?” Lyon smirked. “You want me serious?”

“Domain!”

“Hm?!” Lyon felt the surrounding was a little off. His brows furrowed before he looked at the crazy Seraphim laughing so merrily.

“Now, you can’t escape!” The Seraphim smirked.

“Escape?” Lyon raised his brows before releasing his hand from the wound in his stomach. “Why would I escape? Against you? Please, that last time was because I’m doing it on purpose.”

“What?” the Seraphim Cultivator frowned.

“I lured you here, being of Paradise,” Lyon smirked. “C’mon, did you have to divide the nutrition inside your brain so that your wings have a share? Hahahha! Why don’t you think a little? I’m just a True God cultivator here, there is no way I can outrun you.”

“Pfft! Stop bullshitting! You’re just wording out your way to make yourself comfortable in this inevitable death that you’re facing! The torture that you will experience! Besides! What do you expect to do in this ruined city that I destroyed a long time ago?”

“Glad you asked,” Lyon smiled till his eyes narrowed down to slit. He crossed his arms before answering, “Well, my wife is here.”

“What?” The Seraphim Cultivator was caught off guard by his answer before he snorted. “W-What? Bahahaha! What are you talking about?! The more you stepped into death the mo—?!”

The Seraphim Cultivator had his brows slowly furrowed before his eyes sharpened as he found a glint of light. A sword intent zipped through the air before piercing the mighty domain like butter. He immediately turned his head sideway but his cheek was caught with a graze. He was stunned by the speed before he found a stinging pain in his thigh. He looked down before blood sprayed into the air as he wailed. His thigh was pierced through by the second sword intent.
