Reincarnated as the Son of Conglomerate

Chapter 84 Night Hunting (IV)

Dozens of cars pulled over, and people got out of them. They surrounded the pale Roach. Among them, a red-haired woman searched for someone.

"Where is Kla-Morgan?"

"He\'s chasing that monster," Roach replied.

Sylvia clicked her tongue. "And you people are not helping him? What were you thinking?!"

"Calm down, Sylvee. Mr. Morgan told them to stay here."

A feminine voice sounded behind her. Sylvia turned around, and her eyes opened wide as she saw Sheila covered in blood.

"Are you okay?" asked Sylvia in a worried tone, seeing the blood.

"It\'s not mine. And you don\'t have to worry about Klaus. He will be okay."

Although Sylvia knew Klaus was powerful, her feelings could not calm down if she did not see him in person.

Sheila smiled as she rubbed Sylvia\'s shoulders, calming the red-haired woman down as if she could know the inner thoughts of the red-haired woman.

A gangster exclaimed, seeing someone coming. Sylvia beamed when she saw Klaus. She quickly ran over to him.

"Are you okay?" Sylvia asked.

Klaus did not respond to her. He walked over to Roach, who his men were mobbing. He stood in front of him.

"You failed to catch him?" Roach asked.

Suddenly, Klaus pulled the bald man\'s collar. The gangsters spontaneously reacted, especially Izzy and Dax. They pulled Klaus\' hand away from their boss, but his grip was too firm.

"Hey! Hey! What are you doing!" Roach shouted, not accepting Klaus\' treatment.

"Let go of your hand!"

Sylvia and Sheila gasped. They quickly calmed Klaus down before the situation got worse.

Everyone who was there tried to break up those two. However, Klaus ignored them, stayed silent, and gave Roach a deep look.

"You know about that creature, right?" A cold tone escaped Klaus.

"What are you talking about? I don\'t know what your nonsense!" Roach thrashed about, but he couldn\'t break free from Klaus\' grip.

"Boss! I don\'t know what\'s bothering you! But please don\'t do things like this! Calm down!" Sheila desperately tried to calm her boss down.

Klaus gazed at Roach for a long time. After seeing the honesty in his eyes, he let go of the bald man. Roach looked upset by Klaus\' treatment but endured it.

Meanwhile, Sheila seemed clueless at Klaus\' random behavior.

Klaus held her hand and handed her an apple pendant. For a moment, she did not understand why Klaus gave it to her until she felt familiar with it. Not long after, Sheila gasped.

"This is Jojo\'s necklace. How come you have it?"

Klaus was silent.

Opening his eyes wide, the worst thing she didn\'t want to think about flashed through her head.

"What happened to him?" Sheila asked softly. Her words sounded shaky. "Did that monster eat him?"

Klaus was still silent. His head seemed to be thinking about something.

Sheila kept asking questions but got no answers. She eventually grabbed his cloth and shook him. Her action drew the attention of the people around her. They just stood by and watched despite the shock painted on their faces. Even Sylvia felt the same way.

The red-haired woman knew Sheila as an easygoing person. It never crossed her mind if that woman would behave this way towards her boss.

However, Klaus was level-headed. He held her hand and released it gently.

"I didn\'t say the boy died. I found this necklace around the monster\'s neck."

Sheila twisted her face in confusion. "What? How is that possible?"

Klaus was silent again. His silence made the nervousness in Sheila\'s chest reappear.

"Answer me, boss. Please."

Klaus sighed. "I can\'t give you an answer until I need to confirm something."

Klaus turned to Roach, and Sheila looked at the man as well. When he wanted to talk to Roach, Izzy blocked him, but the bald man said it was okay.

"If you want to ask a question, you should say it nicely. Instead of grabbing my collar." Roach snorted.

"Have you ever dealt with Miranda?"

Instantly, Sheila squinted after hearing the name of the orphanage\'s nanny mother. Miranda was the last name she wanted to hear from this problem. Why would that old woman transact with a gang leader who sold monsters? It sounded ridiculous.

However, Roach\'s expression said otherwise.

"Yeah. She\'s a regular customer of ours," the bald man replied.

"WHAT!?"

Sheila could not help but be surprised. She raised her voice angrily, asking the bald man for an explanation as to why Miranda needed a monster when she had children at home.

"I\'m not in the mood for games, Roach. Don\'t joke around."

Roach sighed. "I\'m not lying. Why would I say nonsense in a situation like this?"

"No way..." Sheila was at a loss. She did not know how to respond. It did not cross her mind that the old lady was one of Roach\'s customers.

"Tell me, what did she buy from you?" Klaus asked.

The bald man looked away, and then he began to tell everything.

Miranda used to buy monsters from Roach. In fact, they had already transacted before she met Sheila. At first, the old woman bought weak monsters like slimes or insect monsters.

As time passed, she bought monsters regularly from Roach, at least once every two months. Of course, Roach was curious why an old woman like her would need monsters.

However, Roach was a businessman. He wouldn\'t ask what his customers would do with the monsters they bought. All that mattered to him was profit.

"Honestly, I don\'t know anything about Miranda. And it\'s not my right to ask about other people\'s business either. Maybe she\'s a meat person. You know, there are a lot of monster meat lovers these days."

"Miranda is a nanny, Roach. She can\'t possibly buy monster meat for herself when there are 25 mouths to feed." Sheila sighed in annoyance.

The atmosphere became quiet. People were also thinking about the answer to why Miranda bought monsters. They were interested after hearing their boss\'s story.

"What if she doesn\'t eat it?"

All attention was on Klaus. They looked at him with curious eyes. Especially Sheila.

"What do you mean, boss?"

"Not all monster meat can be consumed. You can\'t eat insects, let alone slimes. If you dare to eat them, you\'ll get poisoned."

Sheila frowned. "Then what is it for?"

Klaus pursed his lips. He already had an answer but hesitated to tell Sheila. He wasn\'t sure if his secretary could handle the truth.

"There are thousands of monsters in the dungeon. Each of them has different characteristics. But I\'ve never seen a monster with the same characteristics as another monster."

"Buddy, I\'m stupid. Can you shorten it?" Roach looked impatient to hear the answer.

"When I faced that monster, it had dozens of characteristics that no other monster had. Regeneration like a lizardman, metabolic speed like a bloodsucker, scream like a water hag, form like a ghoul, and many more. It\'s as if you\'re putting all the existing monsters in one container."

Everyone who heard Klaus\' explanation was thinking. They were still figuring it out. Among all of them, Dax was the one who found the conclusion.

"Maybe, the monster is a chimera," said the green-haired man.

Klaus snapped his fingers. "Bingo. That\'s what I was thinking."

Whispers echoed from the gangsters after they got the answer. They couldn\'t believe the monster was a chimera.

Chimera was popular and a hot topic three years ago. The government had conducted research to create monster soldiers, but it ended in disaster. The monsters could not be controlled and killed all the researchers and staff in the lab.

"Then what\'s the connection between Chimera and Miranda?" asked Sylvia curiously. "Let\'s say the monster is a chimera. Then how can the monster use the boy\'s necklace?"

Instantly, everyone there gasped. Especially Sheila. The short-haired woman was in complete shock. Sylvia\'s questions helped them find answers.

"Don\'t tell me..."

"Miranda likely took in those orphans to serve as guinea pigs. Creating Chimera."
