Chapter 10 First Free Kick Goal
The Supreme stadium had taken on a whole new feeling as the fans cheered and chanted for the players.
Both the players and fans were really starting to believe that there was a chance that they could win this match.
"Roland has two goals in the champions league campaign so far and they both come against Barcelona through corner kicks," Jim said.
"Just like I said Supreme United are wonderful with corner kicks and I was already fifty percent sure that corner kick was going to get converted into a goal," Steve said.
The Barcelona fans didn\'t feel down because of the goal as they kept changing the name of their team.
They really didn\'t have anything to lose from this match as it was certain they were going to finish on top of the table even if they lost this match.
The ones who were desperate to win this match were Supreme United who were fighting for second place with Juventus.
They had the same number of points as Juventus but Juventus was in second place because they had a higher goal difference.
Drawing the match was a chance they couldn\'t take because Juventus were playing against the weakest team in the group which meant that they had a better chance of winning than them who were playing against the best team in the group.
The game kicked off again with Vasquez sliding the ball to Frednado who quickly sent it back to Scholes in the left wing.
"This match may not really mean anything for Barca considering their position in the table but I don\'t think Barca is a team that looks to lose a match no matter what," Jim said.
"I wonder what\'s going on in Ciro\'s mind after seeing that goal," Steve said.
"He\'s probably planning his revenge in his mind," Jim said.
"Yeah, he\'s whispering something to Arnold Orlando, the left-back who is also a starting but starting on the bench," Steve said.
"The way I am seeing things it seems like FC Barcelona\'s manager Phillip Shaw is planning something deadly in the second half," Jim said.
"Yeah, Andrew is switching the point of attack to the left wing now with a cross to Lelemar," Steve said.
Lelemar trapped the ball as a Supreme United player raced towards him, he didn\'t try to pass the ball or move but he knew what he was doing.
As soon as the defender had gotten closer to him he tipped it over him and rushed past him leaving the defender in awe.
He wasn\'t free though as Supreme United\'s left back tried to close up and take possession of the bouncing ball but Lelemar was faster as he got on the ball and with his back heel flicked it over Simeon.
There was a loud gasp in the stands as they had just witnessed Lelemar humiliate two Supreme United players with his incredible fun.
"I don\'t know if that guy can play a match without trying to humiliate anyone," Steve said.
"Yeah, but getting past those two leaves him all alone on the left side of Supreme United\'s goal post. Can Lelemar create something here?" Jim said.
Lelemar still didn\'t pass the ball as he tried to get past Steve at the edge of the box and he did get past Steve before he was brought down by Conan under a careless challenge.
"That\'s a careless challenge from Conan, that could be costly."
The referee blew his whistle as Vasquez quickly rushed to Lelemar who was still lying on the floor.
"One thing Barca wouldn\'t want is to lose Lelemar to injury," Jim said.
"Yeah there isn\'t any proper replacement for him in the left wing, sure Zinin can be played there but he does a lot better in the right wing than the left wing," Steve said.
The referee slowly walked to Conan who was standing over Lelemar and showed him a yellow card.
"As expected Conan gets the first booking of the night," Jim said.
"Some medical personnels are coming into the pitch to check on Lelemar now as the referee has partially stopped the game," Steve said.
"FC Barcelona fans are probably praying now that he will be okay to continue."
"Yeah, and you can see Roberto warming up on the touchline as Phillip may be considering bringing off Lelemar if he\'s unable to continue," Steve said.
"I think he\'s getting up," Jim said.
"Yeah, he\'s limping a bit but I think he wants to continue as the medical personnels are leaving the pitch now," Steve said.
Committing a foul at the edge of the box wasn\'t really a good thing for Supreme United who had to deal with a free kick now.
"A free kick at the edge of the box, so who\'s going to take it?" Jim said.
Lelemar was standing a little distance away from the ball while Vasquez was standing close to him while they waited for Supreme United to form their wall.
"I think Vasquez\'s going to take it," Jim said.
"No, Lelemar is definitely the one who\'s going to take it." Steve said.
"I don\'t think Lelemar is going to be able to take it considering the challenge he just recovered from," Jim said.
"Ciro has recovered from a challenge similar to that one before and was still able to play a free kick which he scored," Steve said.
"And you think Lelemar will be able to do the same," Jim said.
"Yeah, he\'s come close to scoring a free kick before closer than Vasquez has gotten this season."
"I know but Vasquez has ten free kick goals while he has none."
"He\'s still at the early stages of his career, Jim, even Ciro wasn\'t able to score a free kick until he was twenty-five."
The referee blew his whistle as Vasquez jogged towards the ball.
"I told you it was Vasquez," Jim said.
Vasquez got close to the ball and walked and jumped over it as Lelemar raced in from behind and took the shot.
"That\'s a wonderful goal from Lelemar!!" Steve screamed in joy. "He slotted it up the right-hand corner, Perez had a hand to it but it was just too much shot power for him to handle.
"That\'s the first free kick goal of his career and his first free kick goal for FC Barcelona," Jim said.
"I told you he could do it, Jim," Steve said.
After scoring that wonderful free kick goal Lelemar rushed towards the stands and did a flip before his teammates got close to him and celebrated with him.
"They have the equalizer and just a few minutes after conceding the first goal and things are beginning to take a whole new look for Supreme United," Jim said as some of the Supreme United players sat on the floor with frustrated looks on their faces.
